This is awesome for a first song.

It's much better than mine was, anyhow.

Nice build up, and good instrument choice.

It seemed a little dissonant at some points around 1:15.

Sweet, keep on submitting!

Thanks :]

Nice, this is the one you showed me, right?

The melody is really catchy. I think one of the instruments that really had a big impact on the song was the bass. It was nice, a good resonant saw bass that doesn't take over the song but it still noticable. Very nice!

I liked the ending too. This would be perfect battle scene music in (once again) Dragon Warrior! I could see the first 45 or so seconds being looped, and the end being the victory/triumph jingle.

You should totally make an RPG on that one rpg maker you have, and use these omegabits as the music.

Talk to you soon..

GyEAHH, DRAGON WARRIOR!! i've got to look for that game, you've mentioned it a lot.
yeah i think i showed it to you like half finished, or maybe it was full.

im glad you noticed the bg sounds. since the instruments aren't that interesting (at least in comparison) by themselves, i had you make them work together 'n like harmonize. and i was inspired by those songs i downloaded from 8bitpeoples.com. each part of the song was unique from the other yet worked amazingly together.

lol i think we got rid of that rpg maker when we cleaned the computer. so maybe if i feel like redownloading it and learn the easy scripting i will.
thanks again.

Nice. That bit tracker thing sounds pretty cool

Cool song, I like the main synth. What is it? (I know it's not from FL, but is it a saw/sine or what?)

Short song, so I don't have much to say about it. I can definitely see this being the music played when you walk into an inn, or blacksmith, or other store in one of those old Dragon Warrior NES games.

Can you add effects with bit tracker? This would go well with this song. If not, just add 'em in from FL.

Nice one! 5/5

i've always imagined a blacksmith shop the way Sword of Mana captured it:

u meant sfx like that of the first link? the little tink noise of a hammer. the program is limited by what you can rip from other songs that have premade samples in them so however many instruments are in a song is how many you can have in your song. you can edit instruments but its too tricky to figure out.
thanks for the review! glad you enjoyed it.

Cool

First off- you must tell me where you got those string samples! They were really awesome.

While I can see where you're coming with the 'emptiness' of the song, it made my really cheerful. There's something about the upbeat nature of it that gives me a really dancey feel.

Is that a sytrus bell? If so, which one is it? It's really catchy.

Good song! You get a 10. Now, I don't mean to 'audio whore,' but my latest song "Cloud Forest" is in a whole different genre than my music normally is. Some feedback would be much appreciated!

See you around,

alternativesolution responds:

Ha, it's no big deal. You've done me the favor more than once, I'm happy to oblige. :D

Nice. I like it.

Cool synths. What did you use to make them?

The song is really awesome...I only found 2 things that could be improved:

The crash is a bit preset-ful. Add some reverb and EQ it a bit. Make it your own, so to say.

The rise effect at the beginning...it's good and all, but it's sort of too loud and the end is weird.

Besides that, this song is really cool. You had some volume errors in the end, but that isn't your fault (unless that was intentional?)

I would really appreciate it if you could check out my latest song, 'Cloud Forest'. It's my first one in that ambient style, so feedback would be awesome.

Once again, great song. 9/10 and 5/5.

EchozAurora responds:

It depends on which synth you're referring to. The basses were made with Rogue, the music box (I use that a lot) comes from Unison, the leads are a combo of Transcender and Vanguard... and I think that's pretty much it.

As for the weird volumes.. I think it is because I'm mixing through my living room surround sound and tv. Probably not the smartest thing.. but it does sound good on there.. lol

And the crash.. I dunno.. didn't mess with it.. maybe I'll retouch it later.

Thanks for the review! I'll make sure to hit yours back in a bit.

Cool

Definitely getting the "whale" feel!

Awesome...what software/samples/vst's did you use on this one?

This is really, really fuckin' awesome.

Great use of effects and reverb and such. The big faded timpani was sweet.

This is a perplexing, airy song. Really cool! 5/5 fosho.

Cryptowen responds:

Thanks a lot. I used Jeskola Buzz for the tracker & synths, & recorded the samples myself (I think this one had mostly cutting boards, circuit bent keyboards, & rocks being thrown in water. Probably some distorted vocal & rubber band samples in there, too).

Wow, awesome!

I love this type of 8-bit chiptune music.

This I can definitely see in a GBA game, like Zelda, being played while you walk around a town.

This is odd, but in a good way. It's really original and diverse.

I like it! You should try to mess with 8bit sounds more! 5/5!

Mattopia responds:

Hehe, will do! Thanks a lot! :D

Nice...

This is pretty sweet, I like what I hear.
Nice melodies, and terrific harmony work...I can definitely see this in an RPG game.
The drums are a nice touch, you had some cool beats in there.

Only one thing I would change...the piano is a little bit too preset-ful...FL Keys isn`t that great by itself, by with some effects you can get some cool sounds out of it. When I get back, I can send you the mixer preset I use (with EQ, Reverb, and such). It`s pretty basic, but sounds quite good and you can tweak it to your liking. :)

You get a 10 from me, cus it`s a nice song. The ending works well, I forgot to mention. What did you use to do that? Edison, Wavepad? It`s executed quite nicely.

Keep it up!

-Exodus

alternativesolution responds:

Wow! Great review. Your mixer preset sounds good, so sure. And yeah, I used Wavepad. Thanks a lot for reviewing, I really appreciate it! :)

Nice, I like it!

Catchy melody. I remember you showing me it, I think.
I like the gate, that was cool. What did you use for it?

The bass could have been a bit louder though, and it seemed to play some noted a bit out of its range (too low).

Its a nice loop, and a full song would probably be pretty sweet! Sweet song!

Neon-Crepth responds:

:] thanks for the review! i think i might have played it a little for ya... the gated one was dance- orion string with some high eqing on the 5,6, and 7th bands. it sounds like crap by itself as im sure you've tried out. but it works to 'fill in the rest' as neodrummer said. i dunno what i'd do without the gater X] 'n yeah after the lowest note it hits i was originally having it go lower... but i decided i was pushing as it was.
thanks, ttyl

cool song

Nice synths...this song gave me a jungle feel.
I love the square that comes in around 1:10. The synth at 1:20 was a little overwhelming though, but has awesome melodies come with it.
Cool effects, they went really well with the synths.

Also, I love the percussion. It's jumbled, but organized (which doesn't make any sense at all but I can't think of a better way to describe it...it's good!) The ending was cool...the snare was a little preset-y (the vintage 3 one in the end) but it's ok, that's a good snare.
Nice work on this..!

-Exodus

Neon-Crepth responds:

i agree about the 120 synth. i was EQing it yesterday and i didn't want it to sound too compressed, in that effort it became harsh and how you put it overwhelming. the percussion was from the pack of breaks you got for me. they worked out really well for what i was trying to do. lol, the snare i don't think was mastered at all. XP. oh well. 'n yeah, isn't it amazing what kinda effects you can get with just those crappy simsynth instrument!
thanks man. glad you liked it!
